This is how I've personally lost over 100 lbs.
I ate/eat two meals a day five days a week (within an 8 hour window) and I fast all day on Monday and Thursday. So for myself I fast for 40 hrs twice a week. Why do I still fast? Because I'm still on my journey of my ideal weight.
On the fasting day up to 600 calories are acceptable to consume. Typically if I feel the need to have some calories I do it in the form of liquids. V8 juice being one of my favorites. I also find it easier to consume those calories as a small meal rather than spreading them out.
Word on the street is that it's better to eat earlier in the day. However I personally prefer having a meals to look forward to. So I typically eat between noon and 8PM.
We are only letting our insulin out to play twice a day and then it's on the sidelines. For the fasting days stay away from insulin inducing drinks. While diet soda and the like have no calories your body treats them like actual sugar and there is an insulin response.
During the fasts I drink "Sloth Juice" which is pure electrolytes. This will keep the "brain fog" away and limit hunger. If you drink plain water you'll find it will increase your hunger. Sloth Juice is 500 mL water, 1/8th Teaspoon Potassium (a "No Salt" alternative will suffice) and a pinch of Himalayan Pink Salt. On a typical eating day I'll have 2 bottles and on a day that I'm not eating at all I'll have 3. I also have 1 cup of green tea daily with nothing added to it. I'll admit Sloth Juice is like you're drinking slightly salty water. If you need to add a flavoring you can. It's not ideal but will still do the trick. Most flavorings have sugar or sugar substitutes which again trigger an insulin response.
For some people looking at it like this helps...
You should lose at least a pound per fast. That's easily 2 lbs a week (typically you'll lose more). So you can do the math on how to get to your goal weight.
I also recommend weighing on the morning after your fast. Track that weight. For example I weight on Tuesday and Friday morning before I consume anything.
1 on 1 personal coaching (primarily virtual: Texting, Phone Calls, Zoom meetings and if you’re local I would love to meet in person).
I’m here to teach you how to eat…differently. I eat. I eat a lot. I want you to eat a lot too.
There are so many opportunities each day to learn how to eat more efficiently. I’ll text you photos of all of my meals and you’ll do the same. I will ask you questions and answer any you have for me. It’s like we’re having one long conversation. I’m here for your journey. For some of you I’m only here for the beginning. You’ll learn quickly how easy it is to eat this way and your training wheels will fall right off. For others you’ll enjoy the confidence and candid back and forths. As your weight releases you’ll understand the why’s and how come’s of The Sloth Diet.
Please reach out to me if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Nothing. I‘ve changed my views on charging to help people. I believe in Karma and if we take care of others we will receive what we need.
It’s not necessary for this way of life. Is it beneficial? Yes. I’m not going to lie and say that zero exercise is the best strategy for health. At the bare minimum I would recommend a daily walk of 30 minutes if you can. Should you begin to overdo exercise you’ll find that your appetite will increase and it can make your weight loss more of a challenge.
Yes at the end of the day the way I eat is vegan. You DO NOT have to eat vegan. I recommend it but any of my recommended changes will yield results.
This is the definition of Vegan that I subscribe to:
“Veganism is a philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude—as far as is possible and practicable—all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose; and by extension, promotes the development and use of animal-free alternatives for the benefit of animals, humans and the environment. In dietary terms it denotes the practice of dispensing with all products derived wholly or partly from animals.”
Yes twice a week you’ll weigh in and report your weight. This will give both of us a good visual way to see how far you’ve come. It also helps to write some of your thoughts next to each weigh in. Being able to look back on your thoughts and feelings along your journey allows you to realize really how far you’ve come. Like I mentioned before this is a Mental Health journey and expressing where you are mentally and emotionally is equally as important to have lasting change.
Yes please take a full body picture (in underwear if comfortable) and a good selfie shot. I’m all about the face gains. Please send me your selfie and ONLY if you’re comfortable the body picture. These photos will ONLY be shared with your written consent. Again this journey is about progress and being able to see and track that progress is more of a reward than any type of negative reinforcement.
